How to fit a bicycle helmet plus competition

Andreas · May 2, 2011 · 56 Comments

The lovely people over at Madison recently got in touch and wanted to offer London Cyclist readers 12 of their beautifully designed Bell Helmets. I jumped on the offer and after the useful video on how to fit a bicycle helmet I have details on how you can enter!

Introducing the Bell Faction Helmet 2011

brown scurvy camobrowngoldpinlinescb2012749-51jimbophillipschokejimbophillipswallpapermattblackmattblackcyanbluemattblackwhiteskullmattprimerpaulfranklightbluesparklemagentayellowflowers

These skate inspired helmets should convince even the most image conscious to don a helmet for head protection on the bike. The design is stylish, comfortable and fits well.

Each Bell Faction helmet features 12 vents for ventilation, high impact protection and excellent resilience to knocks and scrapes. They come in three sizes (small 51cm to 56cm, medium 54cm to 59cm, large 58cm to 63cm) and have adjustable straps to get the perfect fit.

They are worth £31.99 at Wiggle but we have 12 to give away by Friday.

Competition now closed! Thanks to all who have entered! Winners contacted shortly..

A very special thank you to Madison for offering these helmets to London Cyclist readers.

Hmm – considering I have a cheap Argos helmet (*blushes in shame*) I think one of these would go far in helping my friends and family not feel as scared every time I go out cycling!

I am strangely attracted to the ‘black gold pin lines’! Would be good as my old helmet is on its last legs.

    Likewise, thanks,

Like Ann, I am rather ashamed of my cheapo helmet, which also doesn’t fit well (I like the adjustment straps in the video). Never found out how effective it is though, thank goodness!

Ooh, lovely! I got a new bike, which is actually road worthy and won’t fall to bits in a month. I tried out one of your cycle routes on it yesterday, the tow paths one. 😀 A lovely ride for a sunny Sunday.

A new helmet to go with it would be fantastic. I love the bright pink one, or the skull and crossbone ones. They are all pretty cool.

The bright pink one is wicked. I have a very boring black Sirrus helmet at the mo and would love something a bit more spunky. It’s all about the colour blocking this season, people!
I’m waiting to see how quickly this thread turns into a helmet debate…

I never used to be convinced by these skate style helmets, but must say since trying one on they are a nice fit. Being a man of simple tastes, I like the plain black version, would match my Specialized Sirrus too 🙂

Matt black or skull and crossbones are my favourites. I am also a bit partial to the matt black and cyan one. Have been considering for a long time getting a skate style helmet but am always worried about ventilation in the hot summer months.

My current helmet makes me look like I’m metamorphosing into a Klingon so it’d be great to have something more stylish. If I’m fortunate to win one I’d like a medium in the Sparkle Magenta please as it will clash nicely with my hi vis wear.

Thanks to you and Madison for organising this – great site 🙂

My wife has one of these, in pink, and I’ve been envious of the shape (if not the colour!) for ages. A matte black one would be a stylish alternative to the ugly, if functional, lid that I use at the moment.
