Bike repair on your Android

Andreas · Oct 5, 2010 · 21 Comments

screenJust over two months ago we released a very useful iPhone application for cyclists. 5000 downloads later we’ve brought that same app to cyclists with Android mobile phones.

The app is called Bike Doctor and it shows you how to complete 24 common bike repairs. It will help you keep your bike in perfect working order and save you the frustration of riding around on a squeaky and half-working bike!

We built it because we were frustrated at how bike repair manuals often leave you confused with not enough pictures illustrating each step and language that is hard to follow. To combat that, we created an app that makes bike repairs possible for even a complete beginner to do.

The Android app that will save you money..

If you use the app just once on a simple bike repair such as fixing a puncture you’ll save yourself £10 – £20. On the more complex repairs the saving are far greater!

device4Be sure your bike is safe to ride..

The Bike Doctor App for Android and iPhone will talk you through exactly how to safety check the different parts of your bike. So you’ll be sure you’ll never have a situation where parts start flying off in all directions!

Never again put up with wobbly wheels and squeaky breaks..

Don’t let yourself endure a sub-par cycling experience. Get your bike repaired quickly and easily so that it rides just like the day you left the bike shop.

A bike mechanic in your pocket at all times..

Problems with your bike don’t tend to crop up while it’s sat in your house. Bike Doctor is there with you at all times, ready to spring to action and help out!

A helping hand even for a pro..

We’ve also found the Bike Doctor app has been a hit amongst those more experienced in bike repairs as it is so useful to quickly refer to.

Here is a video showing the Bike Doctor App on the Android:

Just tried to find it on my Milestone, and it isn’t in the Market! AppBrain can find it but not install it, what’s up?

Think it’s taking Google a while to load it onto all the marketplaces. Keep trying and it should be available very soon

Any chance of a matching discount for the iPhone to celebrate the catchup on Android ?

If you could do a bit on re-greasing a Sugino 75 crank set it would be greatly appreciated, also a bit on getting the squeak out of my Brooks B15 saddle I would love you forever 🙂

Still not showing for the Milestone, could this be because of the odd resolution of the screen (480 x 854)? I heard this caused problems for other apps/handsets.

Sadly we can’t purchase apps from the Android Market in Ireland yet. I had been waiting for this to come out, I had to put my bike into the shop today and everything!

That’s a big shame Brian. I know Google added a load more countries recently but I guess they have a long way to go still.

Still not available on my Milestone, although I see in AppBrain that someone has it on their Droid (US version of Milestone). Anyone else failed to install on Milestone or am I the only unlucky sod?

      Hi Nico,

Can you please email android@bikedoctorapp.com with details on your location (which Android market your use), and what version of Android your device is running?

      Thanks,

      Ian

I do not know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else experiencing issues with your blog. It appears like some of the written text on your content are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them too? This might be a issue with my browser because I’ve
had this happen previously. Appreciate it
