Endura Urban Leather Glove review

Endura Urban Glove

When we reviewed the Endura Urban Range back in July, we mentioned that there was a leather glove available as part of the range. We hadn’t tried it out though – because it was July, hot and we were enjoying the feeling – which is rare in this country – that you get when you don’t have to wrap up warm.

I was keen to try out the glove though, so as soon as temperatures started to drop the gloves came out of their wrapping.

Slick and slim

While I enjoyed the fact that the smell of leather reminded me of my wicket-keeping gloves from my school days, it did remind me of the fact that those gloves took a while to break in. And the same can be said about these – it took a good six or seven outings before each glove moulded to my hand and became comfortable to wear. However, this is simply a sign of good leather.

I’ve said in numerous blog posts that I’m a sweater, so I’ve never been drawn to a pair of chunky winter cycling gloves and have always wanted a pair that are slim and versatile and give me the flexibility to use my hands – to an extent.

While I’m unable to use my phone when wearing these gloves (I had some difficulty taking these pictures), I am able to do most other things – undoing zips on jacket pockets, turn on and off my lights with ease and can just about control my fairly basic (yet small buttoned) cycling computer.

Deceptively warm

While the temperatures are obviously going to drop further and further over the coming months, it’s still been cold enough to justify full fingered gloves on the bike. And the Endura Urban glove is a lot warmer than it looks: the leather keeps you cosy, while the light padding in the palm means the gloves remain comfortable for the duration of each ride.

What’s more, the small gap by the velcro fastener means the gloves are never too hot – while the part of your hand by the hole is never going to get particularly cold anyway.

What’s to like

  • Slick and slim, leaving your hands fairly free
  • Keep you warm, but not too warm
  • Padding keeps the gloves comfortable

The only real downside I can think of is that the velcro fastener, with a small metal hoop, can be fairly tricky, especially when you’ve already got one glove on. But it certainly gets easier and is only a minor disgruntlement.

The Endura Urban Leather Gloves are currently a little low in stock but keep your eye out on Chain Reaction Cycles where they can be had for £28.49.

I usually wear leather gloves on my bike in my daily journey and keeps me warm, perhaps too because they are not gloves designed for cycling, I have several products of endura and I am sure that they perfectly combine ventilation of the hands without losing the heat generated by bike rolling
