Who would like two tickets to go see the Olympics Volleyball?

Andreas · Apr 6, 2012 · 88 Comments

Thank you for all the entries! We have our winner – Robbie Craig comment number 82!

We’re in full “giveaway” competition mode here on London Cyclist. On Wednesday we gave a £500 Wiggle voucher to London Cyclist reader Esteban who is putting it to good use towards a new bike. Today, I’ve been given the opportunity by Thomas Cook 2012to give away a Games Breaks package to one of my readers.

Thomas Cook is the official provider of short breaks to the London 2012 games. The giveaway includes official London 2012 Volleyball competition tickets and accommodation for two people for one night. The winner will need to book their place by the end of May.

The Volleyball is on the 3rd of August and held at Earls Court.

If this sounds like something you’d like to take part in then normal competition rules apply and all you have to do is enter by leaving a comment below on which sport you are most looking forward to seeing at the 2012 Olympics. As per usual we will be picking the winner completely at random.

I’d love to see the cycling. The road race (which I’m a keen enthusiast) would be brilliant, bu the velodrome stuff would be an incredible opportunity to see, considering how strong our cycling teams are at the moment.

My dad is a mad cycling enthusiast who emigrated from Italy to Australia in 1954. He told me how he and his mates walked into the Olympic village to meet their Italian cycling heroes (imagine trying to do that today!). He used to take to me the old Olympic velodrome to watch events, so I thought it would be great to watch the same events here in London, especially as there is such a big rivalry between Australia and GB right now.

The elimination races at the velodrome – men’s and women’s world championship eliminations have been the most thrilling form of sport I’ve seen in years.

The UCI World Championships at the Velodrome and after the stronf performance in Mebourne I’m looking forward to all of the track events. Of course, two tickets to the volleyball would be a great second place.

It has to be the team pursuit.

My friends who’ve already been to the velodrome said the atmosphere when the british were riding was amazing.

A volleyball game consists of two teams playing against each other. Each team will generally have six players. The team is split up into three players in the back of the court and three players in the front near the net. The net separates the court into two sections. A game of volleyball can be played inside or outside. The court is rectangular and divided directly down the middle. The net is quite high, much higher than tennis. The goal is to make the ball hit the ground on the other teams side…
