Andreas · Jun 15, 2012 · 204 Comments

Enviroco is an eco-friendly company which specialises in hazardous waste management. We’ve teamed up with Enviroco to offer three lucky readers the chance to win an I Bike London t-shirt of their choice.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment with your favourite spot to cycle to in London (Or in your local area). Please note this is open to UK & EU residents only. Sorry rest of world!

By entering you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the competition. Competition closes on the 22nd of June.

I’ll start us off..

My favourite place to cycle to in London is the National Theatre on Southbank as it’s a great place to grab a coffee and open up the laptop to get on with some work without distractions (such as writing the London Cyclist Handbook!).

Competition now closed!

A lot has been written about warm summer days and there are certainly some lovely places in London which look a whole lot nicer in bright sunshine.

But for me on a late afternoon in early winter, perhaps in late November, with the lingering tang of a bonfire hanging on a still fading day can there be anything more pleasant on my way home from a Christmas shopping expedition as spotting the warm glow from the cafe on Peckham Rye where I pull over for a large cup of tea or coffee and the biggest slice of carrot cake you can ever even imagine. Before the final five miles home.

    Heaven on earth!

My favourite cycling spot has to be along the regents canal, especially the spot between angel to mile end. The camraderie between cyclists and pedestrians along the towpath, the cafe’s right on the waters edge and background scenery of changing london.

My favourite place is my commute home. Enjoyable climb up Haverstock hill, dodging the Hampstead 4×4’s then across the pond, picking up speed by the Heath, perhaps popping in the Spaniards Inn for a pint, then full speed down Bishops Avenue. Love it!

From the tube station to home!

Returning home on the last tube after a long day/night out, so glad that I don’t have to walk or catch the bus that I could just give my bike a massive hug.

My favourite spot is the Thames River Path. Quiet, off road, lots of cyclists, and I love that you can smell the flowers in the summer, and that “river smell” when the tide is high. And the sunsets, the pubs, the rowing clubs, the whole river atmosphere. It’s quiet but also full of life.

Along the River Lea. It’s a short cycle from our house to Tottenham Marshes. However far up or down you go, you’re guaranteed peace & quiet, the smell of woodsmoke from the stoves on the river boats, lots of wildlife – and it’s flat! Splendid.

In Summer I love to cycle along the regent’s canal from Angel to London Fields with my housemate (watching out for pedestrians and low bridges!), then stop off at a pub for a couple of lagers and an ice cream in the park. Perfect sunday cycle trip!

    So many places to choose….

My current favourite London ride because it’s so green and due to it’s speed for getting cross town (typically from Angel to Goodge St and then onto the west end/hyde park) is the bike path that goes past Gordon Square – avoiding both Euston Rd and Oxford St!

Otherwise can’t beat riding across Tower Bridge when you time the lights right and get a clean run over. Can’t get that anywhere else in the the world!

I love cycling parallel to the Thames from Westminster (Big Ben) till Aldgate station, as it gives you a chance to ride alongside worlds greatest Victorian era architecture and contrastingly swanky high rises till you get a glimpse of Tower Gateway.
