New product helps you stay cool beneath your helmet

Andreas · May 26, 2012 · 71 Comments

Airhead Helmet Spray

Even a well vented helmet gets pretty warm as the temperatures rise. A new product called Airhead Cool Spray promises to cool you right back down.

You use the little bottle to apply a few sprays to your scalp at the start of your bike ride which takes a few seconds. It is designed to keep you cool for up to an hour, but you can re-apply as required if on a longer ride.

It could be a really effective solution for commuters as it is designed to work even if air isn’t flowing through the helmet. Therefore, even if you’ve got a helmet with minimum ventilation, or your stopped at lights, you’ll still get the cooling effect which helps to cut down perspiration.

The product is anti-pruritic meaning it removes any itchiness that you may experience through sweating and through contact with the helmet.

The Airhead costs £9.49 and for that you get a 30ml bottle which provides approximately 300 sprays. This should last a long time.

I’ve never seen so many comments left on Andrea’s site! Hope it does what it says. I’ve got a beard that may benefit from this also…

It is a great idea. How does it work with wax?

I have used this product for a few weeks now and its just the job.

My head suffers little or no irritation now or overheating and the wearing of the helmet is less of a chore.

    Recommended.

I assume the cooling effect would be similar to that of mint or vicks…perhaps just rub some vicks on your noggin before setting off? Keeps you cool and helps you breath better!
