Best quotes heard whilst on a bicycle

Andreas · Jan 29, 2008 · 4 Comments

Friendly CyclistOccasionally you get abuse hurled at you while on a bicycle and other than the usual “f*****g t**t here are some good quotes that people have heard:

  • Whilst riding past a guy one day who just smiled & said “Morning”….. he was crouched down at the side of trail having a dump at the time
  • When riding along the river bank one Sunday afternoon in Glasgow Green, I was asked by a young lady if I was “looking for business”
  • When cycling along Camden high street in London in the late evening I heard someone shout “Looking for dope? Makes you go faster!”
  • “Race you to the top!” by bloke in a wheelchair
  • “Do you want a go on my inhaler?” – by old bearded man as I cycled past at snail pace due to the thick mud
  • Cycle touring in summer heat, slogging up a hill I heard an approaching car slow down. As it drew level, an ice block was thrust out the window to me with a cheery “this is a present from jesus” (Comment left by: Ola)

One time bicycling on the way to the mall some rednecks pulled up behind me and jeered at me saying, “Go Lance!” I took it as a compliment although I knew they meant it otherwise. Ironically, I somehow ended up arriving at the mall before they did. The look of horror on their faces as I waved to them from my parked bike made my entire week. I like to think they take bicyclists more seriously now.

Whilst cycling past a play park some kids shouted out, “Run forest, run!”. Obviously they weren’t the smartest of kids, but a good effort all the same.

Another time I was cycling in edinburgh along a wide path, which is split with a white line into a pedestrian and cycle path. There was a large group of teenagers up ahead who were walking right across the cycle path. I slowed down and then pinged the bell on my bike.

Very slowly the moved apart and let me through. As I cycled away one of the guys shouted some smart ass comment which I can’t remember. To my great pleasure I then heard one of the girls in the group respond, “It’s a f**king bike path you idiot!”
