Product description
The easy-to-attach Nite Ize LED SpokeLit is the perfect way to increase your visibility, safety, and cool factor when you're riding your bike in the dark. Fueled by an efficient L.E.D bulb, this handy little device has two illumination modes—steady glow and continuous flash—to choose from. Press it onto the spokes of your wheel and slide towards the rim until the fit is tight, and it stays securely in place. And, here's the fun part: the SpokeLit not only marks your bike plainly in the dark, when you're riding at medium speed or faster, it creates the attention-getting effect of a moving circle of light. Water and shock resistant, it fits almost all kids' and adults' bike sizes.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 January 2013Super for those dark mornings and nights, these are a lot more eye catching than other spoke lights that I've used in the past.
Very sturdy, easy to attach to my wheels, and haven't fallen off or moved position since they went on 6 weeks ago, despite regular commutes on the atrocious, pot-holed streets of Edinburgh.
Some have complained that they are difficult to switch on and off. I don't have any difficulty in doing this at all. I put my first two fingers on the back of the light and use my thumb to press on the middle of light. Yes, I think it could be difficult if you don't do this, or try to use the tip of your thumb rather than further down, near the back of the first knuckle of your thumb. I'm sure everyone could manage this with a bit of thought and effort. Personally I'd rather it needed a firm press to activate the light than have them switch on accidentally from going over bumps in the road.
There are two options with these lights once they are switched on; flashing, or just 'on'. Flashing is equally eye-catching in my opinion and will have the advantage of extending the battery life. Talking of batteries, I also purchased 12 batteries that fit these, from a different seller for under £3, although I haven't needed to replace any thus far (1/2 hour morning and night, full 'on' mode, 5 days a week, 6 weeks and still going strong).
I have 2 red lights on my back wheel and a green one on the front. I don't have the energy or inclination to go at the type of speeds I imagine you would need to go at to achieve the "solid blur of light" effect as shown on the packet and website, but they are nevertheless very good at getting you noticed on the road. The clever construction of the lights mean that they are equally visible on either side of your wheel.
I don't know if it's because they are bright or unusual, but they do have the effect of getting you noticed by both pedestrians and car drivers. Drivers seem to allow a bit more space as they overtake, which is always nice as you know. Of course, they might be saying to themselves "Hmmm, if he's mad enough to buy and stick those things all over his bike, Christ knows what he might do as I pass by, I'm giving him a wide berth just in case". Either way it's all good for me.
As it's now getting a bit lighter at the times I commute, these will soon by coming off until next year. That won't be a problem as there is no mechanics and tools involved in doing this. They fit to the spokes by means of a deep slot in the centre part, and the two arms that extend out from the centre just wedge on the adjoining spokes. Simple but effective. Solid, sturdy, slightly rubbery feel to them, they do feel like a decent quality item which I have no hesitation in recommending to other fellow cyclists. Thank you.

Easy to fit, no tools required.
Switch requires quite a hard press to activate, but you know it won't be switching itself on accidentally.
Obviously not a replacement for normal front/rear bike lights, but anything that helps visibility is good.
Good value, recommended - other colours are available.
Only used once so far so hard to judge battery life, hence only 4 stars for now.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 November 2010>>>> Here is my initial negative review...
(***BUT MAKE SURE sure you read my POSITIVE update!***)
**** INITIAL NEGATIVE REVIEW ****
Useless piece of junk. It doesn't work. Now I must go through the hassle of getting a refund. Don't waste your time. If it worked it could perhaps be very good; it is neat and compact, smaller than the pictures seem to imply, and it fits on the spokes great, but it is as DEAD AS A DODO.
Before I send it back I am going to try some replacement batteries. Fingers crossed!
**** POSITIVE UPDATE ****
Yippee the new batteries work great! Furthermore Amazon has agreed to refund the cost of replacement batteries! So despite my initial worries everything worked out great with minimum hassle. I wasn't looking forward to the hassle of going to post office and sending the product back merely because the batteries might be dud.
I have asked Amazon to check the other lights in stock to see if the batteries are dead, so future buyers should not have the problem I did. When batteries usually come installed in a device there is usually a slip of paper or plastic between the batteries preventing connection, thus preventing the batteries running down while they are sitting in the stockroom, but this slip of paper or plastic was NOT the inserted into this product therefore the batteries had become dead. Anyway, the bike light is lovely and bright. I can't wait to try it out. The plastic is made out of a nice hard tough rubber substance (nice and durable which will easily survive any knocks) and it lights up well on both sides. The resolution by Amazon was a brilliant piece of customer service! Thanks Amazon. Thanks for refunding the cost of replacement batteries. If only all companies could make the shopping experience this pleasurable then when things occasionally go wrong the world would be a better place.
Batteries were worn out, the conclusion was a success!
Here are the replaced batteries Amazon refunded:

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2017(1) Ordered two both arrived in good time, paperwork with them states Checked!! Not sure what was checked but one light was very dim and the second one nothing, can’t get the batteries out to test them or replace them. So not overly impressed
(2) Managed to remove and test batteries 3 of them tested 0% @ 0.73v the other err code. So if you do take the plunge buy some batteries with them and throw the supplied ones in the bin.
(3) renewed both lamps using 4 (2016) cells they are pretty bright and work fine and also fit securely, im annoyed that i had to buy batteries so soon to get the things working so be aware.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2012Well there is not much to write about this product. It simply did not work and after checking out all the negative reviews I realized I wasn't the only one with that problem. I returned the product the same day. Lot of hassle for a tiny product like that. I might give it another try and see if it works but for now it can only be one star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great protection for your side profile at night
I have to agree with the person who said that they can't believe how many people don't read simple directions. This is a great product. I don't worry at all about vehicles not seeing me from the side at night anymore and it's really cool to hear the neighborhood kids shout "COOL!" when I ride by. I've gotten the same reaction from plenty of adults as well. Here's a breakdown of each "trouble area" that I keep seeing in these reviews again and again.
-Testing Mode- I lucked out and the company that shipped these to me had already cancelled the test mode on these prior to shipping. These are programmed to shut off after 30 seconds so that people can't drain the batteries when playing with them in the store. The easiest way to test these out to see if they are in test mode when you get them is to simply turn them on and set them down. Wait a couple of minutes and if they haven't automatically shut off then you're good to go. If they do shut off you simply need to press down on the button and hold it until the light shuts off. This should take it out of test mode and you should be good to go. If you want to see if it did indeed cycle out of test mode, turn it on and leave it for a couple of minutes. If it stays on you are good to go. Go to the Nite Ize website for detailed instructions on how to take these out of test mode if you are still having difficulties.
-Batteries- This product requires two 2016 batteries. I replaced all of mine when I got them just to be on the safe side. I do not recommend putting one 2032 battery in these as many have suggested. One 2032 battery = 3 volts. Two 2016 batteries = 6 volts. You are only giving the device half of the voltage output needed if you place one 2032 in the device as opposed to two 2016's like the manufacturer suggests. You can buy 2016 batteries in bulk right here on amazon for very cheap prices. I recommend the 2016 batteries that Blue Cell makes. I've used them multiple times and have never had issues with receiving dead or weak batteries. As far as longevity goes, I really can't say as of yet. I have riden these on the solid setting for a total of roughly 6 hours so far and they are still going strong...
-Installation- This device has two lines down the center that will fit your spokes. You only need to use one of them. Snap it into the spoke and then slide it down towards your rims. the rubber ends should slide along the spokes to either side and "lock" into place. These should slide right down to the end of your spokes and rim and fit nice and tight. I have a bike computer on my bike and was able to slide these down to the edge of the wheel and have no problems with it hitting the components of the bike computer attached to one of my spokes and the front fork. I have riden with these on some rough hills and never have had issues with them popping loose. I have to put some real effort into sliding these off when I leave my bike out in public, but they do come off. I would recommend being careful when pulling them off so that you don't accidentally loosen your spokes and start to take your wheel out of true. I can see those who have non-standard spokes having issues getting these things on and I would recommend you try one out at your LBS before buying to see if they will fit if you do have a bike with non-standard spokes.
-Turning on and off- The button on these is strong, although not as strong as some are making it out to be on here. I can see small children and those with weak hands having a problem with these. It takes a decent amount of force to push the button, although I have no problems shutting it off and on or cycling through the flash and solid options. These shouldn't present any problems to anyone with normal grip and strength.
-Colors- Most cities have laws against using red and blue lights unless you are driving an emergency/police vehicle. Is it likely that a cop is going to waste the time to "pull you over" and write you a ticket? No. However, it is something to be aware of.
I purchased four of the green spokelits (two for each wheel) and couldn't be happier with the purchase. Read the directions that come with the package (there are simple diagrams on the inside of the package) or go to the Nite Ize website if you are having problems. These are great for lighting up your side profile at night and look EXTREMELY cool. Everyone should have at least one on each wheel if they ride at night. It just might save your life...

5.0 out of 5 stars Utilissimo
