The perfect app for the New Year: Active Goals

Ahhh, the new year. A time of drinking, a time to reflect, a time to promise yourself to “sort out your life!”.

Some of my goals for next year: Hire an extra freelance writer for London Cyclist, go to Antarctica and “be more fit”.

The last one in particular, I’ll be tracking with Active Goals. It’s a new iPhone app I’ve discovered that helps you keep track of your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals.

For example, you can tell the app you want to cycle 120 miles over the next two weeks or ride your bike 5 times a week.

Then, you easily tap in your workout and it’ll show you a nice progress graph to see how well you are doing.

I always think having a clear visual representation of your progress is crucial for motivation, as once you start something, you want to see that graph reach 100% so you can tick it off.

The app also keeps you informed of how much time you’ve got left towards the goals you’ve set. This way you can plan your time ahead to make sure you can hit that goal.

I’ve put the app on my home screen of my iPhone, so I always notice it and remember to plug in my workouts. These days it’s just become part of my routine.

If you are like me and like keeping track of these things and are motivated by seeing your progress, checkout the app inside the app store.

Runkeeper does all of this stuff for free with a backed website too. Along with email alerts and record breaking updates.

Looks like a cool app. I use Strava, I like it because race against my friends in other states and all over the world.
