June 20th is coming up fast and it’s the time of the year when I wish my dad was more into his cycling! I’m still trying hard to convince him to buy a GoCycle instead of a moped. If you’re still a little stuck for ideas then here’s a roundup of bestselling gift ideas for this year’s father’s day – don’t forget to order soon!
Bike rack and panniers
If your father is using his bike for the shopping trip or for longer expeditions then a bike rack and panniers can shift the weight of anything you are carrying from your back and onto your bike. Bike racks fit onto most bikes that have the suitable holes on the frame. I’m currently in the process of getting an Altura Arran pannier with a Topeak Super Tourist rack. Evans have a sale on the go so now is a good time to buy.
iPhone Bike Mount
If your father comes fully equipped with an iPhone then he may appreciate a bike mount to attach it to his bike. He can then plan journeys on Google Maps and track his performance. I’ve listed a load of bike mounts previously. You may also want to get him a copy of some of the latest iPhone bike apps.
Don’t think your father will appreciate the move over to panniers? A cycling backpack can provide more comfort over normal bags. One that is highly recommend and I’ll be reviewing soon is the DHB Elsted 30L rucksack from Wiggle. It costs £37.99, has room for a hydration pack and comes with plenty of padding for extra comfort.
A new cycling Jersey is another good gift idea for any keen cyclist. The Endura Short Sleeve Jersey is a good one to look at.
A very useful thing for any cyclist to have is a good multi-tool. Take a look at some of the best multi-tools.
London Cycling Routes
This post wouldn’t be complete without giving myself a bit of self promotion! If your dad is looking for a gift with a bit of a difference and great places to cycle in London then look no further than the London Cycle Routes eBook for £6.95.
Have a happy father’s day!
