A 7 day travel card costs £34.20 to Zones 1 to 3. Sometimes its a nice reminder of how much money you are saving by cycling and what that equates to.
Get warm and snug hands by fitting this £10 pair of Merino liner gloves inside your existing gloves. The extra warmth is certain to defeat even the coldest of days.
The Fibre Flare bike light is a great compliment to your existing bike light. You can fit this flexible light either on your bike frame or attach it to your bag. The light offers a wide degree of visibility and costs just £26.99 – much less than a travel card!
If you like to motivate yourself by tracking all the miles you are covering by bike or you like to find alternative routes around London using the BikeHub app, you’ll enjoy using this waterproof iPhone bike mount. Plus, it’s £4.25 less than a weekly travel card.
There’s no doubt that cycling in London still has a long way to go. However, the LCC have recently really responded to cyclists concerns and are pushing for Dutch style cycling infrastructure in London. This is a big breakthrough and a welcome departure from the previous campaign directions. A membership helps support their campaign work and gives you a number of benefits.
Wet roads mean slower braking – a new pair of brake pads costs around £5. Adjusting them is quick and easy (Tips inside our maintenance course) or you can get your favourite local bike shop to fit them for less than a weekly travel card.
For just £12.49 you can get a Track Pump which will allow you to quickly get your tyres up to the required pressure. This is incredible important so you can avoid punctures and sweaty pedalling. Its one of my favourite upgrade suggestions for new cyclists.
On a recent trip to Copenhagen I picked up a nice woolly hat, complete with ear flaps! There’s no doubt I look a little bit ridiculous but the warmth is incredible. If you are getting cold pedalling in to work in the morning, consider adding a woolly hat or a liner of some sort under your helmet. This can then be quickly removed as your body temperature rises.
